Review of SAE Asia Co., Ltd (Shanghai) in Shanghai, China by Charlotte M, 03 Jun 2020, 11:58
This is the third time we've moved house using a moving company in Shanghai and the third different company we've tried. From the start, I was very impressed with the professionalism shown - everything had been considered, including the opportunity to donate unwanted larger goods free of charge to local charity Heart to Heart. It was also heartening to see that the company had listened to feedback regarding the quality of the unpacking service and - as a result - have added an additional ayi service where you can hire an ayi to ensure everything is unpacked neatly and in a logical way. Given that this was something we'd had issues with when using other moving companies, this was reassuring to see.
The move itself had a few issues - there was a typo on the start time, meaning workers arrived on time but didn't come up until later, delaying the start of the move which had knock on effects for getting everything unpacked by our daughter's bed time. We had chosen not to hire the ayi, thinking that we'd be able to run a close eye over the unpacking service. In reality this wasn't practical - if we were to do the move again, I would definitely hire the ayi service as the movers, while excellent packers, don't necessarily have a clear sense of where things ought to go when the configeration of your new house is different to your old - our kitchen in particular was a mess. We ended up hiring an ayi the following day (she was actually provided free of charge as a goodwill gesture) and I was very impressed with the quality of her work. She worked quickly, asked questions where necessary and was able to use her own initiative successfully to solve problems. Had we hired her to be with us the previous day, the unpacking part of our day would have been without problems and we would have saved ourselves some of the stress.
The reason I would definitely move with SAE again is the quality of the customer service provided by our moving consultant, Ferasse - something I have found to be in short supply in other moving companies in Shanghai. When we communicated with him he was responsive, polite and understanding. He found solutions to any issues efficiently and without any sense of defensiveness.
Problems are bound to come up with any move given the complexity of what is taking place, but it makes such a difference to know the company you're moving with will address these concerns rather than trying to sweep them under the carpet. I would recommend both Ferasse and SAE unreservedly.
