Disgusting Company

Review of Allied Pickfords (Hong Kong) in Hong Kong, Hong Kong by Dl R, 22 Aug 2021, 10:46

Our furniture was packed early May, it is now late August and our household goods have not even left Hong Kong. We have had regular requests through email asking them to explain and get on with it and they always come back with “our dispatch team is working on it.” Also, it usually takes over a week to get a response from them and if you do not ask questions, you do not get any information. We even paid extra (after 6 weeks) to have our shipment sent through Australia to NZ, as they suggested this has more movements and would get our goods shipped. Guess what … goods still haven’t left Hong Kong. These Hong Kong Allied Pickfords do not give a sh#t about people. I used Allied Pickfords for a within NZ move and they were great. Hong Kong are the worst experience I’ve ever had and are absolutely disgusting human beings as they do not give a sh#t about anyone. I had to give them “1 Star” because that is what the system requires. Quite frankly, they’re a negative 5 star score. To summarise, they’re all quick to get you a quote and get your goods packed up, but once they’ve got hold of your goods, they hold you to ransom. It’s like “what can you do?” Their packing guys looked like they did a good job, but I had to give a score of 1 to everything to truly reflect the overall experience. Because this review website does not provide a section to review the shipping experience not timeliness of delivery.

Move from Hong Kong to London

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Used Allied back in July 2021 to move from Hong Kong to London. At the time we were told 3-4 months. Packing team was fine on the day but then the problems began. Similar to others our possessions did not leave HK until 3 months later (we were not told) and only found out from the UK team, when we started to question where the delivery was. Eventually we received our shipment in Feb - 8 month later! Allied then added additional costs for shipping HKD 30k extra and another HKD20k for port storage. These were all "revealed" one after another and we told that if we did not pay our shipment would be deposed of. Prem Sabanayagam was highly dishonest throughout the whole process and sadly we found out how deceitful he was when we were erroneously copied in on an internal email from the UK team, which revealed the true story. We as a family have moved a number of times but have never experienced such appalling service. Allied is one to avoid.

My move from HK to the US

Allied Pickford in Hong Kong is not controlled by the head office in the US. It is a name that is licensed out. It is owned and managed form the Philippine by people that are extremely hard to reach once they for your contract. One may feel that using an American company will ensure a better local service in the US along with more responsibility. It is all false. The US office has no say so in what is going on with the move. If you have the slightest problem you need to refer to the HK office who has to refer to the Philippines office. And on and on and if you are in the US you need to stay up long hours with no one to talk to..... I have been staying up for 3 nights and cancelled a business trip to deal with unresponsive staff in HK and their supervisor in the Philippine. It took took them 7 days to get back to me with a negative answer. They will never give you a mobile numbers. You will never see any number on the Supervisor emails. He died nig even have a physical address in his emails. That is very indicative of the type of people that you will be dealing with. They don’t stand behind the problems caused by their crew. Such as : Mislabeling. Mixing parts of all the furnitures in 1 box without clear markings. Writing in Chenglish etc... I used Allied because I naively thought that it is all one company and I will not be exposed to the bland game and will desk with the local people in the US. It was a miscalculation in my part. I should have checked this fact before hiring them. Dont make my mistake. M Using them had been very disappointing. A nightmare

Move to West coast USA

While the moving crew were excellent, the customer client officer and move manager were just awful, conniving, liars. Specifically Jacky Lo and his useless colleague based in the Philippines. We moved last July 2021, its now March 2022 and our stuff hasn't arrived. On top of that, our total bill was double the initial quote - so 20+K USD in total. I understand that Covid delayed everything, but these guys did nothing to find a solution to expedite our goods and have communicated nothing with us, ignoring our emails every week. Good luck trying to phone them as they are unreachable and do not pick up their phones. All my friends who went with other companies to move to the USA, all got their things within 4 months. Agree with previous reviews - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Disgusting, unethical, company who only care about taking your money and spitting on you with their horrible customer service. My war with them is not done.

Our move from Beijing to Hong Kong

My wife is an expatriate staff and we relocate frequently. We have 3 occasions to deal with this garbage relocating company in the past 13 years, none of them were nice experiences. First one was in 2010 when we moved from Shanghai to Macau, they use a low bit to get the contract from my wife’s employer (all 3 moving were paid by the then employer). After removing our stuff from our place, they claimed there was a mistake in the original quote and need an additional amount about CNY1800 or 2000 (I couldn’t recall the actual amount) which the employer refused to pay. We were forced to absorb this additional amount as our stuff was in their hands, to us this was extortion. Second case happened in 2014 when we relocate from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. My wife’s company arranged 3 moving companies to get an on-site quotation at our place and Allied was one of them. The rep from Allied late for an hour (from 3pm to 4pm), causing us to make consequent adjustment with our original plans. The worse part was, when we showed our dissatisfaction to her, she raised her voice claiming that was not her fault as she was punctual, fully exercised her Anglo-Saxons type of arrogance. Later we found out the reason why she's late because her home was inside the same community as ours, she can go home right after finishing this job. The attitude of that staff from Allied screwed up the whole atmosphere and we dropped them off from the candidate list. The 3rd case happened in July 2022 when we moved from Beijing to Hong Kong. This time Allied was chosen by my wife's employer for our relocation, They packed all our stuff on 08 July, but messed up with the shipping part and couldn’t get any container space. As a result our stuff was still in China by end of July despite the delivery address in Hong Kong was passed to them around 22nd July. We moved in to our new home on 3rd August and finally received our stuff on 13th August after some heated communication exchanged. We spent 11 days in our new home without small appliances and important household items. Last but not least, Allied promised to pay us an ex-gratia payment of HKD1500 to compensate our inconveniences, which we donated such amount in advance to a local charity in October. Allied forgot about this promise until I reminded them twice, then they sent us a legal type form in March 2023 saying that has to be agreed and signed before payment could be released. One of the terms which we disagreed is asking us to keep our mouth shut, not to review such incident anymore to neither public nor private sectors. We decided to not tolerate them after 3 bad experiences and won't let them go so easily. Some follow up actions are now in process. This is a poorly managed company as they ignore all kind of basic services, and only eyed on profits. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS RELOCATING COMPANY!

Move from Hong Kong to Sydney

House move from Hong Kong to Sydney. Full container load so didn't need to combine with another client but AP delayed our shipment in Hong Kong for 6 weeks without notifying us. Our container was then shipped to Brisbane instead of Sydney - again without notifying us. Long inspection time & custom clearance due to Covid. AP asked for extra payment to deliver the last items - we agreed to pay 50% of their extra undisclosed charge (this was blamed on the HK office) to have the rest of our belongings delivered. After 8 months we finally received our entire shipment. We had to follow up on the status & whereabouts of our shipment throughout the process - very little information was willingly provided by AP. Some items damaged - still awaiting results of the insurance claim. I will not be using AP again & do not recommend their services.

My move from Hong Kong to Singapore

Absolutely horrendous service. Switch and bait quoting lower volume and then increasing costs. Absolutely no communication from my so-called move coordinator. Went with Allied simply because I thought they'd have volume but 3 weeks on and I am still waiting for my shipment to be shipped. They seem to have absolutely no idea about what's happening in their own office, anyone I try to call is on emergency leave and there is zero urgency from HK office. Have been blasting them all over social media just to get a response with zero effect since no-one cares. Stay away from these cowboys.

My move from Hong Kong to Philadelphia

AP Hong Kong was helpful in setting up the move, however they dropped the ball on fees and calculation. It was never clear how I could manage cost, and then extra costs started to show up - specifically "demurrage". AP used internal groups to take blame for the cost and miscommunication. In the end, they also threatened not to deliver the goods; and raise fees again. This was most unfortunate.
